Shri Akhil Anjana Kelavani Mandal began as a charitable trust in the year 1960. Its primary aim was to provide a platform for value based education, particularly to the girls of the rural area of Gujarat and to the nearby regions. Over the years, the Trust established many well known educational institutions in the city, which have today become the benchmark of providing qualitative and value education to the girls. Initially, to begin with, the Trust established schools giving primary and secondary education. They then gradually extended their services to the Higher Education sector as well. The trust has number of Educational Institutions under its umbrella.

This trust is the brainchild of a community, which is enlisted under Socially and Educationally Backward Classes. It was established in 1983 with a view to imparting education to Girls so as to improve their status and dignity in the society and to empower them with the weapon of education to make them self-reliant and to enable them to live with self-esteem. The trust has set up a vast academic campus in Gandhinagar (18,000 sq. m. for college and 2000 sq. m. for school) exclusively for Girls.

The trust also provides on-campus hostel facilities to its students in which on an average more than around 400 girls especially from the underprivileged families of the society and from all walks of life irrespective of their differences of caste, creed or religion are provided admissions who hail from the most interior and remote areas of the bordering districts of Panchmahals, Sabarkantha and Banaskantha which fall on the outskirts of Madhyapradesh and Rajasthan respectively where they don’t have the facility of higher education after completing their schooling up to Higher Secondary successfully as some of them are indeed promising if they are provided conducive environment for further study.

Shri Akhil Anjana Kelavani Mandal firmly believes that the empowerment of the girl child will strengthen the Indian society like never before. They have taken the lead in becoming the torch bearers for providing qualitative education to the girl child, particularly those hailing from the deprived communities and those hailing from the rural areas of Gujarat, where Institutes of Higher Education are few and far between. At the very outset, the Trustees had understood that education has to be imparted in such a way that it not only leads the girls to gainful employment but also helps them become self-reliant and sensitive to societal needs, and thus become leaders in the nation’s march towards excellence.

The Trust thus decided to set up an Institute which would provide the basic degree Home Science in the Arts faculty with the noble purpose of enabling the female students for getting jobs or to make them self-reliant to start their own business in the eatery. Along with that two other subjects named Special English and Special Gujarati were also offered at the graduation level, later on P.G.centers in the same disciplines were started. The visionary Shri J.M. Chaudhari gave this idea of setting up an Institute of Higher Education, as in the days of the 1990s, only completion of school education was not enough. All the other trustees also helped in realizing the cherished vision of Shri J.M. Chaudhari and set up the Institute. Shri P.K.Chaudhari, one of the Trustees, donated the land in the heart of the city for establishing the Institute. The Institute is therefore aptly named after him. Since then, the Institute has kept growing from a tiny sapling to a giant tree today by God’s grace. The Management, Principal and the Faculty members of the college have contributed in the best possible manner towards the development of the Institute.
